Flying stars 81 combinations
« on: February 20, 2008, 08:24:05 AM »
Hi all,

Are there any books that analyse the flying stars 81 combinations in a deep way and not only as a table?

Thanks and best regards,
Naseeb

Hi quahbkc,

Thank you for your reply!
Actually it must not be several pages per a combination. What I mean is that I read in several forums some explanations about certain flying stars combinations that tell " a story". Moreover, we know that each star has its own qualities, but what happens when two stars (water star and mountain star ) combine in a palace? and how this combination affects different people in different periods?
I feel that each practitioner makes his/her own table of the flying stars combinations and update it according to her/his experience. I just thought that maybe there is already a book.

Best regards,
Naseeb

Hi quahbkc
Like NK stated this is a comparison between the time star and water star but are these explanations also the same for comparison of the water star and mt. star and/or base star and mt star?  Shaunna

I used to memorise the combination until a Master made me understand the concept of host and guest star and the kua interplay between them. From then, I derive the meaning based on some divinitive interpretation. So what if I hv a page long of every combination; it actually takes only 1 line from the writing to describe the situation of that individual. The same method is used to recall the XKDG's 64 hexagrams.

Hi Jeremyk,

Could you please explain how you "derive the meaning based on some divinitive interpretation"?

Thanks!

if you look at the books from ulrich lippelt . feng shui demystified 1 + 2 and to the complete idiots guide to feng shui (3 th edition)
there are many tables and descriptions. BUT as the books are written in period 7 and we now have period 8, the readings may be wrong for some combinations today. But for information, and the "way how to work with" its useful.

This is how I remember/ derive the combination myself:-

1. Remember that the 9 stars are derived from the North dipper stars
star 1 - Tan Lang - Kan kua
star 2 - Jumen - kun kua etc

2. Example - 2 - 7 combination
2 (earth) - kun meeting tui metal. First impression tells u that both r yin kua. 2 yins together r not good. If the concern is on romance, then the answer is not good.

2 & 7 also the hetu combination, so if the question is on wealth, partnership. outcome is good.

3. U can also read it as kua image - metal coming out of earth - the plot is exposed.  A long scheme is brought into the open/ fruition.

4. Or as a hexagram.

Which is right, which is wrong? the one that came to ur mind first at the time of reading is the right one..

I think for my case, and I am sure many others here, would appreciate very much for someone to explain how does one arrive at the result when one star reacts with another. Eg. How does 4 wood reacting to 6 metal ends up giving talent and fame or 4 wood with 1 water results in success in scholarly pursuits?

I mean it is more meaningful to me if I can relate to why 1-9 = financial difficulties, but good for promotion and academic achievements. Romance can be erratic. (taken from flying stars feng shui by stephen skinner) instead of taking it for granted in a table. And to make it even more confusing, different tables have different interpretations on the result of, 1-9 for example.   ~52~

I agree with jeremy here. The tables are great to start learning, but the big picture is always better.

It depends which part of life you are looking at, for someone with cancer, they don't care about money too much because they want to live. Or if a biz is going bankrupt, then they don't care too much for health.

I guess I use the host-guest interactions more - look at the palace the star occurs in, the current period, annual stars and how they affect the particular water or mountain star.

Example, a sick female, I first check the mountain stars in the SW (LH) and North (EH) and combinations. Is the mountain star here attacked or supported, is it timely/untimely etc.

BUT, also need to check their 4p, does the problem stem from their own chart/lp and have nothing to with the fs?

I have a client who got sick early 2008 (beginning of feb), was diagnosed with crohns disease (large intestine) by end of feb. Very strong geng dm, extra earth wu in 2008 'blew out' her metal. Checked NW sector (Yang Metal). Here have 8-8-4, looks ok, but also ann 2 and period 8 9star. So flow of qi goes from 4 to 9 to the 8's and the 2 all the way to metal. This makes metal even stronger, and matches her 4p chart. Here we need to drain earth and metal, not strenghten the 8 mountain star, this will help to drain the excess Metal from her dm.

My two cents.
Dean

PS- it worked, along with other stuff i had them do, by june, she was out of hospital and down to 1/4 of the medication.
