Your example demonstrates the limitation of thinking only of bi-lateral combinations.  The 81 combo list is helpful if it gets us thinking of why each combo produces a result. But the real world is not so simple. We have to think in many dimensions!

Sadly, it is all Period 7 point of view (or has he up dated it?)

This article works with either period 7 or 8, and I'm quite sure it is pretty much up-to-date.  You need to take the Timeliness factor of the Stars into account before applying the meanings of the Star combinations.  If you read on, then you will find the article quite useful concerning Star combinations.

Classic Chinese text like 玄空秘旨, 飛星賦 and 玄機賦 all gave their own interpretation of the star combination. I think most masters rely on these in their teachings.

are these available in english?

and would they contain the flying star combinations through out the 9 periods? i'm really interested to study all of the different star behaviors in all periods, i find it strange that we only have access to the star combination for only the current periods when in fact there already has been period 9's,1's, 2's, etc. in the past...
